Multimodality workshop
On the 12th of June 2024, Victoria Reshetnikova organized the first SoundStart Symposium on Multimodality in Communication and Language Development together with her supervisors Roy Hessels and Aoju Chen. Researchers from different nationalities came together in Utrecht and talked about multimodality from their point of view.
The presentation subjects included:
– “Prosody and gestures for pragmatic interaction in children with neurodevelopmental disorders” by Albert Giberga Moreno.
– “The multimodal expression of focus in child speech: the interplay between gestures, prosody and meaning” by Sara Coego Munoz
– “Automated assessment of internalizing and externalizing behavior of children form parent-child interaction videos” by Niilo Valtakari
– “Gesture metaphor analysis and what I found in my thesis” by Bruna Barbosa Louzada
– “Understanding Segmentation, Crowding, and Neurodivergence in Sign Language Evolution: Insights from an Experimental Study” by Mika Söhnlein
– “Exploring Visual Focus of Attention in Free Play Parent-Child Interactions” by Peitong Li
Victoria herself also gave a presentation on ‘Visual cues to prosodic development’.
